By dropping off your items you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms and conditions regarding stripping services provided by The Bank Antiques.
1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE
The Bank Antiques provides paint removal (“stripping”) services for architectural salvage. This process removes old paint and returns items to bare wood. The standard process may take 1–3 weeks.
2. NO GUARANTEE OF RESULTS
Customer understands and agrees:
Results of the stripping process are not guaranteed.
Some materials will not strip, including but not limited to: latex primer, epoxy, Bondo, and caulking.
Paint may remain in detailed areas such as corners, crevices, or hardware holes.
3. STRIPPING PROCESS LIMITS
Each item will be processed up to three (3) times before being deemed “un-strippable.”
If an item cannot be stripped at all, no charge will be applied.
If an item is partially stripped, full payment is still required.
Additional hand stripping services may be offered at an extra charge on a case-by-case basis.
4. NON-ACCEPTED ITEMS
The Bank Antiques does not accept the following items for stripping:
Furniture of any kind
New or hollow core doors
Oak or cherry wood
Plywood or veneer
Appliqués (plaster or carved)
Glazing
Items containing epoxy, Bondo, or caulking
5. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer must remove all hardware and glass prior to drop-off.
The Bank Antiques is not responsible for lost hardware or broken glass.
Customer agrees to properly store items after pickup, especially doors (see Section 9).
6. PRICING & PAYMENT
Pricing covers stripping services only.
Repairs (including sanding, resizing, plugging, etc.) are not included and will incur additional charges.
Payment is due in full at time of dropoff.
7. TURNAROUND & STORAGE POLICY
Estimated completion time: 1–3 weeks.
Customer has 60 days (2 months) from completion to pick up items.
Items left beyond this period without communication may be discarded or resold.
Items left over one (1) year will be considered abandoned and forfeited to The Bank Antiques.
8. ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS
Oversized items may incur additional fees if they do not fit in standard stripping tanks.
Stripping may cause corrosion on metal components. Optional clear coating is available for an additional fee.
Shutters often require extensive repair; customer acknowledges that repair costs may exceed replacement value.
9. AFTERCARE DISCLAIMER (DOORS)
To prevent warping, doors must be stored:
Flat and horizontal
Free from excessive pressure or tie-down stress
Away from rapid temperature changes
If warping occurs during the stripping process, The Bank Antiques will attempt repairs at no charge, which may take one week or longer
10. DRYING PERIOD
Customer agrees to allow a minimum of three (3) days drying time after pickup before applying any finishes.
11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The Bank Antiques shall not be held liable for:
Incomplete stripping results
Damage caused by pre-existing conditions or materials
Warping, cracking, or deterioration inherent to the item
Loss of items left beyond stated pickup periods
